The DNA of OPEN DOOR CITY CHURCH is a composite of spiritual mothers and fathers who have influenced are lives, and are presently challenging us to open our minds to renewal and transformation. A portion of our heritage comes from saints who have passed on to be with the Lord. At particular intervals in the development of our church, we have had encounters with the Lord to draw our attention to the ministry of a particular worker in His vineyard, to understand the grace given to that servant, and to study that life and give honor to the person for the contribution to the Body of Christ. It is with hope that as the former "pioneer in the faith" is honored, the grace upon that life will be increasingly released to those giving the honor (see Matthew 10:40-41).

Such was our contact with the life and ministry of Maria Woodworth-Etter. Revelation about her astounding call came to us in early 2005. We poured over the record of her life, and in July of 2007 a service was held in The Woman's Museum, Dallas, Texas, commemorating her ministry, especially the Great Revival of 1912, in Dallas, Texas, and how it impacted the city. This process of remembering, honoring, and sometimes repenting, is referred to as "digging a well of revival," or the "picking up of a mantle."

There are many wells to be dug, cleaned out, and primed with faith to see their springs flow again. And, there are historic and powerful mantles to be discerned and received. Open Door willingly participates in these opportunities the Lord opens to the church.
